Our Own Worst Enemy

Dave McCausland, senior vice president of The ROHO Group was recently featured in HomeCare Magazine’s newsletter discussing his recent attendance at Medtrade.  He sees what the competitive bidding process may hold for the future of health care, and it has opened his eyes.

His commentary discusses how bidders can claim larger capacities, but with no obligation to service this volume and limiting competitors. This process also allows bidders to bid in as many areas and on as many product categories as they want, resulting in too low of a winning big. And, bidders will have to bid lower than necessary to win.

He predicts all of this will force cutbacks on services and access to quality health care for patients and their caregivers, as well as creating a domino effect throughout the health care system.
